Toronto subway shooting – the usual suspects.

February 4, 2009

The recent subway shooting in Toronto didn’t seem to bring out the usual anti-gun blather from Mayor David Miller. Maybe he was prescient.

The Toronto police have now named a suspect.

A suspect has been named in the downtown subway station shooting that left a young man wounded and a frightened crowd running for safety — and that’s not all he’s wanted for.

Curt John, 21, of no fixed address, is wanted for last week’s shooting, as well as part of a murder investigation last year, a car jacking in North York and an assault and robbery in Etobicoke.

Then some further detail.

Yesterday, John and another man allegedly asked someone they knew to give them a ride from Jane-Finch mall to nearby Niska Rd., where the driver was pistol-whipped and his silver 2004 Ford Escape, license plate BB2P 445, was stolen, Di Tommaso said.

For that, John is wanted for robbery and forcible confinement.

John is also wanted for an alleged assault and robbery that took place in the city’s west end Nov. 27, 2008, though few details were available on that investigation.

Homicide officers have been looking for John since last year for accessory after the fact for the 37th murder of 2008.

Dominic Shearer Hanomansingh was shot dead on Eglinton Ave. W., near Keele St., July 26, 2008.

Jimmy Jason John — Curt John’s cousin — had been in custody on a charge of second-degree murder since early August, homicide Det.-Sgt. Brian Borg said.

Borg alleges that Curt John let his cousin use his name to receive medical treatment following the murder.

While the good Mayor was shutting down shooting ranges in the city of Toronto, used by Olympic class shooters and other law-abiding recreational shooters, this thug was running around the city – business as usual.

Damn, I thought closing down those shooting ranges would have stopped all that violence. Good job Mayor Miller!
