You can’t say ‘drunk’?

December 6, 2008

The other day my wife saw an RCMP officer on TV talking about “sobriety deprived’ drivers. Sobriety deprived? Come on! When did a drunk stop being a drunk?

Then we heard that people using the services of a food bank were ‘food insecure’ and that someone who was poor was ‘financially challenged’.

We used to think of these phrases as jokes, as here and here. But when you hear a police officer, in all seriousness, using these term you realize that the world has truly gone mad.

It may be time to move to another dimension.
